How do I create an Action element?
Action, or Scene Description, is the catchall element of screenwriting. It's where you tell the reader what happens.
Action elements are easy in Slugline. Just type some text.
Action elements can have "soft" carriage returns. Just hold down the Shift key as you press Return. This allows you to to start typing a new line with no empty space in between.
On iOS/iPadOS, If you don't have an external keyboard, you can delete the empty space between two action elements to create these soft returns.
There are rare cases where you'll want something to be Action, but Slugline wants to display it as something else. For example, say you had a line like this:
EXT. IS ONE OF THE WAYS TO START A SCENE HEADING.
Slugline reads that line as a Scene Heading because it starts with "EXT.". To force it to be Action, add an exclamation mark to the start of the line:
!EXT. is one of the ways to start a scene heading.
Slugline shows you the exclamation mark in gray, and it will not appear in your printed screenplay.
