Slugline 2 is a massive update to the original Slugline for Mac. New features include:

  • Complete visual overhaul, with a lovely dark mode
  • A drag-and-drop outline
  • An awesome new timeline
  • Color-coded notes
  • Final Draft import/export
  • Live Compare for tracking changes

All this without changing what made the original Slugline so beloved: Slugline 2 is easy to use, free from distractions, and based entirely on the plain-text Fountain screenplay format.

Upgrading from Slugline 1

After seven years of free feature updates and bug fixes, including five major releases to keep up with the latest macOS updates, Slugline 1 is no longer for sale. You can still use it, and even re-download it from the App Store. We have continued to update Slugline 1 for compatibility and performance, but it won’t get any new features.

Slugline 2 is a free download, and works without watermarks or limitations until you pass page six, when an in-app purchase of $49.99 USD unlocks Unlimited Writing.

Slugline 2 has a ton of new features. We really hope you’ll want to upgrade.

Paid upgrades suck.

I know, right? But this is the way we, like, feed our families and stuff. We love making Slugline and want to keep it going for another seven years and beyond.

Can I try the free version of Slugline 2 but keep using Slugline 1?

Absolutely. The two can live happily on the same computer. For the best experience, sure to update to the latest version of Slugline 1.
